Donny Daughenbaugh - Corporal, Marine Corps
On October 12, 2004, in Mahmoudiya, a city south of Baghdad, Donny was on a night foot patrol when a speeding vehicle opened fire on them with an AK-47. Donny was shot by his attackers with the bullet entering through his left cheekbone lodged between the base of his skull. Due to the location of the bullet, it was left in place by doctors because it’s too risky to remove. Donny has made it his mission to raise awareness and reach as many wounded veterans as possible. His involvement has not only helped with his own recovery, but he has also inspired others to remain resilient in their recovery. (Submitted by: BABA – Operation Finally Home)
