EITHER – OR: Weekend Movies/DVD Reviews – Are They Worth Your Money?

It’s Time for EITHER – OR:  Either You open your wallet to see the new movies (Avg $50 per couple) OR you stay home and stream something (avg $6.99).

This weekend is an OR weekend!

KONG – Skull Island is available to stream/DVD and it’s worth it!  Yes, It’s ANOTHER King Kong remake but this one they kinda got right.  Special Effects are great, this story is decent and the action is strong.

On The Other side:  New Movies

Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets – I was sooooo excited to see this.  I’d read that the classic French comic by the same name was an inspiration for both the creators of Star Wars (George Lucas) and Star Trek (Gene Roddenberry) so that had to be good…right.  Ummmmmmm, not so much.  Have You Ever tried on those VR goggles?  If so you how disorienting the “enhanced reality can be” – Valerian is like wearing VR GOGGLES…it’s visually overwhelming at times.  But honestly, I feel like I’ve seen it all before – plus the story is “meh”, the leads have little chemistry – which is needed for the story, and Dane Dehaan sound like “Bill & Ted” era Keanu Reeves and that bothered me.  Wait for Streaming/DVD.

Dunkirk – I didn’t get a chance to preview it.  It’s getting rave reviews from critics (92% on Rotten Tomatoes) but like all Christopher Nolan movies (Memento, Batman, Inception) some people love the ambiguous nature of his stories – others don’t.  So I can’t recommend spending your cash until I see it.
