Sam Hunt is getting ready to go on a headlining tour with Kip Moore and Charlie Worsham and he’s still getting the questions about why he chose country music. In Houston, you will hear his latest single, “Body Like A Backroad” on radio stations that don’t normally play country music and that speaks volumes about it’s popularity.
Recently, Hunt sat down with HitsDailyDouble.com to talk about his choice to be a Country Music artist and how he classifies his music:
There’s been a lot of debate about your style. Is it country?
Yes, a 2017 version. There are times I’m a lot closer to what that is by popular vote. I enjoy all kinds of music, but as an artist, I want to speak to people who can relate to what I’m singing about, who’ve been there and know how it feels. I want to write songs about my life and my life experience. Our country culture today is different than it was 20 or 30 years ago. And if country music is about real life, then I’ve got that in how my songs are.
That’s one of the best explanations I’ve heard. Country Music listeners have a much different array of lifestyles and life experiences than they did in the past. That’s why there is a difference in the sound and style in today’s music. Music constantly evolves and Sam’s explanation is spot on.
There’s a reason country fans UNDERSTAND and LOVE the music Sam sings.
