The Lion King At The Hobby Center Will Bring You To Your Feet

I have been told for years to go watch The Lion King when it comes to an area near me and finally, I have done it! I went to the Hobby Center last night for opening night of The Lion King in Houston and it was a wall to wall great experience. From the very beginning you can see this is a highly produced piece of theater because the costumes are out of this world. It was a magnificent exhibit of creativity and color. The elephants, the giraffes, the mammoths, the hyenas, the warthogs and the LIONS.

Each character and each animal costume were a pleasure to see. It was a cool experience to watch a play that was based on a movie that I’d seen dozens of times in my life. The Disney version was echoing in my mind as I watched the actors and actresses play out the roles on stage. My hat goes off to the orchestra and the stage directors who put together an impressive array of color schemes, musical interludes and stage sets.

From the stampede that took Mufassa’s life to the battle between Simba and Scar the entire play was fantastic. There was a 15 minute intermission but the total time was close to 3 hours. The Hobby Center was a wonderful place to see the play and I suggest anyone who is into theater or wants to experience something different in Houston, go check out The Lion King. They received two standing ovations to close out the night. You can see it for yourself through July 23, 2017.
