Time for our “CAN I GET AN AMEN” story of the day! At “THE MORNING BULL” we believe in the power of positivity. We believe there are more good people than bad in the world, and we believe that goodness should be celebrated when you find it!
No matter if you aren’t old enough to remember the TV show – most everyone knows the story of Lassie – the amazing dog who was always seemed to understand every command her owner gave her.
“Lassie go get Pa, go get Pa Lassie”. Well Melody Jackson may have had Lassie as part of her inspiration. Melody, who’s beloved 90 something year old grandmother Eleanor was in the kitchen when she fell.
Her Granny yelled for help – but it wasn’t till a neighbor came home that her granny was found and helped. Melody said she started thinking if her granny would have had a small lapdog at the time, the dog not only could have been a companion, it could have helped her when she fell. But how?
Well, Melody and her team at the Georgia Tech have figured out how. They have developed a brand new touchscreen that dogs can use to call 911 during a medical emergency.
Yep, Jackson and her team, said after watching service dogs – and how amazing they are with their people – they are so atuned to them – that if the dogs could just talk…or be like lassie – it would be great. Amazingly, they just tested a touchscreen that dogs can use to call or text. It teaches dogs to ‘talk’ with technology.
Jackson and her colleagues have trained her border collie, Sky, and other dogs to approach a television-size touchscreen surface and use their noses to push three buttons when they hear the command “help.”
And one of the teams members explained they solved one of the biggest problems, “This used infrared technology, so the screen can get messy and still work”.
So where ever you are in the kitchen or in the car…can throw your hand in the air, “CAN I GET AN AMEN” for this … Always focused on the good news, and if you ever see a story that would make a great amen email it in at George@thebullhouston.com
