There I was, minding my own business, driving down Montrose looking for a lunch spot when I saw the sign for Yucatan Taco Stand. I mean, I thought to myself, tacos sound good and Yucatan sounds appealing so let’s see what it’s all about. I walked in to the restaurant and was first a little overwhelmed by the overhead menu. I didn’t quite digest all of the options nor was I sure of suggested items.
I looked over the menu when I came across the nachos. To me, they sounded tasty and how do you go wrong with a pile of nachos, right? Right.
I didn’t take this picture but it’s a great representation of what came out of the kitchen and landed on my table. I was blown away by the height of the nacho stack and they didn’t hold back with the toppings, the veggies or the dollops of sour cream and guacamole. Unlike some places, when you get some nachos they don’t put cheese on all of the chips rather just pour it out and hope that it finds its way to all of the chips, Yucatan made sure every chip had something cheesy and delicious attached to it.
Perhaps, not the healthiest option for lunch but it satisfied me to the point that I have been back multiple times to indulge. Plus, their taco sauce, while runny and not your typical “Mexican food hot sauce” it coupled with the nachos perfectly. If you’re in the need for a nacho fix or just looking to try something new, give it a shot and let me know what you think.
