Time for our “CAN I GET AN AMEN” story of the day! At “THE MORNING BULL” we believe in the power of positivity. We believe there are more good people than bad in the world, and we believe that goodness should be celebrated when you find it!
How does the song go “the stars at night are big and bright…..deep in the heart of Texas”, but Dave Olson in Pflugerville, Texas says that on the nights you can’t sleep, your worries can seem like they are as big as the Texas sky. That’s where Dave was 4 nights ago…up in the middle of the night worried about how he was going to provide for a family that he will leave behind.
You see about 4 years ago, Dave Olson got the news that he had pancreatic cancer. And as of now, no cure – he was deemed terminal. But Dave was proactive, he is being treated at MD Anderson here in Houston and he has accepted every trial, every chemo treatment and every surgery with the goal of staying alive until a cure is found.
And those medical treatments can be expensive. Some folks told Dave to set up a a go fund me type page – which he did, but Dave decided, “I like to create rustic decor with reclaimed wood. As getting a regular job is not an option (due to constant trips to Houston, nausea, vomiting… ) I still want to do my best at providing for my family without relying on handouts.
But last Thursday, tired and told by his doctor that he should wait before any more trials, Dave said he was scared, and started thinking/worrying – about money, how to provide for his family. He said, “I finally ended up turning it over to God after wrestling (and getting nowhere)”.
So last Friday Morning, his daughter, Jade, knew he was stressed and sent out this tweet – “…those of you who don’t know my dad has terminal cancer & is unemployed so he’s raising money by doing woodwork. help spread the word”
Well that little tweet of faith…caught the eye of several radio stations, newspapers and websites around the world and within hours…money and orders for Dave’s business came pouring in.
Yep, So many orders in fact, that a company has built Dave an online STORE to help him track the deluge of orders and good will. And it opens later today. We have the link up – Some beautifully made items and all are available for a suggested donation – and all with all the orders, some are posting “Dave, don’t need any more stuff in my house – but here is a donation.”
So where ever you are…in the kitchen or in the car – Can you throw your hand in the air… “CAN I GET AN AMEN”… – Focused on The Good it’s the Morning Bull, and if you ever see a story you think would make a great amen – email it in to us at george@thebullhouston
