Time for our “CAN I GET AN AMEN” story of the day! At “THE MORNING BULL” we believe in the power of positivity. We believe there are more good people than bad in the world, and we believe that goodness should be celebrated when you find it!
Texas Women – strong, beautiful and tough as nails, and that would describe Bree Rios who grew up in Harlingen, Texas, down near Brownsville.
She’s been working as an EMT – but she had another dream job in mind. So, she’s been studying and training. She has taken the exam three times – but she didn’t give up – Texas women don’t give up.
And finally, she got word that she is going to be the FIRST FEMALE FIREFIGHTER in the City of Harlingen, oh and she gets to work with her dad!
While it’s been happening in big cities, like here in Houston – being the first female firefighter in Small Town Texas has gotten Bree lots of attention – People Magazine did a big story on her – Her dad said when Bree was small she’d come to see him at the fire station and ask questions from “why the trucks were red to why there weren’t any ‘girls’ working there.”, according to People.com
“She used to always tell me, ‘One day, I’ll be working with you, Daddy,’ ” and “Twenty years later, here she is…”. Bree told People “I’d like to tell other girls and young women to go after their dreams,”.
And because she is girl…won’t get her out of one of the time-honored rookie duties – Bree will be handing the cooking.
So where ever you are in the kitchen or in the car…can throw your hand in the air, “CAN I GET AN AMEN” for this … Always focused on the good news, and if you ever see a story that would make a great amen email it in at George@thebullhouston.com
