Time for our “CAN I GET AN AMEN” story of the day! At “THE MORNING BULL” we believe in the power of positivity. We believe there are more good people than bad in the world, and we believe that goodness should be celebrated when you find it!
A Big Thank You to Stacy Massey, who sent in this story. It happened a while ago, but is still a great lesson for us all.
Tommy O’Connor did something you hope your kids would do….Tommy is a high school senior and was on his way home from school when he stopped at a 7-Eleven in Fremont, California to buy a soda. As he was leaving the store he noticed a wallet on the ground, so Tommy picked it up and almost spit his soda. He saw that the wallet was stuffed with cash.
And you need to understand, Tommy and his family live on a fixed income and Tommy admitted there are some days he skips lunch because money is tight. So there he is with a wallet full of cash, he could have taken some, heck he could have taken it all. But Tommy said all he could think about is that it might be someone else’s rent and bill money for the month. So he went back to school and handed it over to a teacher’s assistant, who helped him track down the owner – who happened to be a veteran and it was, in fact, the vet’s rent money.
Tommy did get a reward, he said he didn’t count the money when he picked up the wallet – but it contained 23 $100 dollar bills. The teacher’s assistant, Anna Gomez, said, “He was so concerned about finding the wallet’s owner, No other option even occurred to him.”
Tommy’s dad said “With us living month-to-month, it is a big chunk of money and I’m so proud of him that he did that,” and his mom said “I’m very proud… Wow, your one in a million”. To which Tommy replied: “You should be thanking yourself … You raised me.”
So where ever you are in the kitchen or in the car…can throw your hand in the air, “CAN I GET AN AMEN” for this … Always focused on the good news, and if you ever see a story (just Like Stacy did) that would make a great amen email it in at George@thebullhouston.com
