[Video] George Strait Admittedly Passed On Recording ‘Tennessee Whiskey’

With 60 #1 songs in his career there is no denying that George Strait knows how to pick which songs to record, after all, they don’t call him “The King” for nothing.

However, during a Facebook Live stream with Kasey Musgraves, a fan asked if he has ever passed on a song that later became VERY successful, King George admitted that there has been a couple.

There was a couple,” Strait said  “The biggest one was probably ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ that Dean Dillon wrote. I think it’s up for Song of the Year this year at the ACMs, right? Dean pitched that to me in the ’80s. I think it was around ’85, ’84 or something. And, I just didn’t, I didn’t… I missed it.”

There is no denying that ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ is an amazing song as it is BUT let’s face it, the thought of King George recording this song is fascinating.

Would you like to hear George Strait cover the song at any point or would you prefer the song to be left alone? Let me know in the links below.
