Time for our “CAN I GET AN AMEN” story of the day! At “THE MORNING BULL” we believe in the power of positivity. We believe there are more good people than bad in the world, and we believe that goodness should be celebrated when you find it!
Ashley has had a tough life. A tough, short life, she’s just a little over a year old and she grew up in a crack house in Staten Island, New York. Recently Ashley was left alone in the middle of January.
A neighbor heard her cries – and called animal rescuers Erica Mahnken and her fiancé, Michael Favor, they took her to get checked and to their amazement – other than being dehydrated, hungry and extremely underweight, Ashley was in pretty good shape.
According to CBS NEWS “The pair didn’t have anywhere to house the shivering dog. So, they called up some firefighter friends from a Lower East Side FDNY station called “Fort Pitt.”
That’s when the magic happened – after a couple days, the fire department called and wondered if Ashley might stay with them as her forever home.
Oh did I mention Ashley is a Pitbull mix – and is now the station dog and they have shortened her name to “ASH” –
One of the rescuers said “My heart wants to explode, Everyone’s so quick to judge a dog, especially a dog you don’t know where it came from or what kind of person they are and what kind… It is very satisfying.”
Ash, the pit bull, loves to hang out with the Fire Station crew in the kitchen and goes on ride-alongs with the firefighters. She even has her own little spot on the fire truck and Ash even has her own official Instagram account, which has already garnered more than 2,800 followers.
So where ever you are in the kitchen or in the car…can throw your hand in the air, “CAN I GET AN AMEN” for this … Always focused on the good news, and if you ever see a story that would make a great amen email it in at George@thebullhouston.com
