Time for our “CAN I GET AN AMEN” story of the day! At “THE MORNING BULL” we believe in the power of positivity. We believe there are more good people than bad in the world, and we believe that goodness should be celebrated when you find it!
This week folks from out of town have been telling me how nice, polite and kind Houstonians are…I just reply “that’s the Texas way” – we are always ready to help a neighbor. In that spirit, maybe you saw the news over the weekend, just up the road in Victoria on Saturday night, the Victoria Islamic Center burned down. The feds are investigating. But In the meantime, Victoria’s small Muslim population of about 100 people had no place to worship – and if you know anything about Texas, you know we take our ability to worship pretty seriously.
Well, while they were wondering what to do…help came in from a very unlikely place – Victoria’s local Jewish temple came over handed them keys to their place.
Yep – how amazing is that – two groups you never thought you’d see sharing a worship center. Robert Loeb, the president of Jewish Temple said, “Everyone knows everybody….When a calamity like this happens, we have to stand together.” He also said “”We have probably 25 to 30 Jewish people in all of Victoria…(so) we got a lot of building for a small amount of Jews.”
To paraphrase an old saying in the not the size of the spiritual congregation….that matters… it’s the size of the spirit in the congregation
So where ever you are in the kitchen or in the car…can throw your hand in the air, “CAN I GET AN AMEN” for this … Always focused on the good news, and if you ever see a story that would make a great amen email it in at George@thebullhouston.com
