Time for our “CAN I GET AN AMEN” story of the day! At “THE MORNING BULL” we believe in the power of positivity. We believe there are more good people than bad in the world, and we believe that goodness should be celebrated when you find it!
Sometimes we as adults OVER-THINK things, or get bogged down trying to figure things out – but maybe today is a day to step back and take a lesson from children, specifically a California schoolgirl. Ten-year-old Amanda Moore said she has lots of friends that she plays with and talks with at school, but she noticed that a classmate Rafael struggling to make friends.
Rafael had just moved to area from Mexico and had come to school not knowing a soul. Amanda decided she wanted to help out – but she or friends didn’t speak Spanish. But that didn’t stop her, Her mom said Amanda has always been a good problem solver – and this one she solved with her mom’s phone. Amanda took the phone and used Google Translate — a free online translation service — and she used it to write a in Spanish that invited the boy to sit beside her and her friends in class.
The letter was pretty simple it said: “Would you like to sit with me today? Look for me and I will show you where I sit. We can color or simply tell scary stories. Thank you for your time, signed Amanda.”
She said “I just wanted to tell him it’s OK if he could sit over by us,” Amanda said. “Even though we can’t really speak Spanish together, I don’t really know Spanish, but we could still hang out.”
Amanda’s mother posted a video of her daughter reading the letter aloud to her personal Facebook page. The video has now been viewed more than 300,000 times. (I’ve posted it at the bullhouston.com – or you can check our facebook page)
