Time for our “CAN I GET AN AMEN” story of the day! At “THE MORNING BULL” we believe in the power of positivity. We believe there are more good people than bad in the world, and we believe that goodness should be celebrated when you find it!
It’s Homecoming season and we’ve heard some amazing stories, hoco invitations but we’re never heard a homecoming story like this one from Livermore, California. It about Edna Chance – Edna wearing a green corsage and sash was named senior “homecoming queen” last Friday night.
She was overwhelmed! Timothy Buckley, who was her escort said she was moved beyond words. You see being homecoming queen was so special because Edna’s family was one of the first to settle in Livermore. And even though it took a little longer to get that crown it was no less sweet. Edna said she has seen some big changes at Livermore High School in her time between her freshman year and being the SENIOR homecoming queen – no more horse drawn carriages, the addition of electric lights and indoor plumbing. Oh did I forget to mention that when I said SENIOR homecoming queen – I meant senior – Edna’s escort Timothy was her grandson and she’s 99 years young.
Livermore High School heard about Edna and came up with the idea of her being their honorary queen – which thrilled her. She actually did ride to school in a horse and buggy and graduated in 1935. Her family said Edna was always spunky and is one of the few, authentic World War II Rosie the Riveters still living. She drove every day until she was 92 and still attends church every Sunday in Livermore.
So where ever you are, in the kitchen or in the car…can you throw your hand in the air, “CAN I GET AN AMEN” for Miss Edna…– Focused on The Good News, it’s the Morning Bull. And if you ever see a story you think should be featured on AMEN – email it to firstname.lastname@example.org
