Jake Owen may be missing a part of his finger after a go-carting accident earlier this summer, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to slow him down.
“This is life, [and] life happens,” Owen tells the website Roughstock. “When you make plans for your life, that’s when life makes your plans for you. To me, I’ll never slow down. I’ll never stop doing what I love to do. I think part of what makes me appealing to my fans is that I’m not any different from them. I want to hang out with them and I want to have fun.”
However, Owen does add that down the road, he may have the opportunity to lessen the work load to spend more time at home with his wife and daughter.
“Sure as my career goes on and my daughter gets older and I become more comfortable in my marriage in the sense where when there needs to be more family time, then maybe I’ll break away from it for a little bit,” he says. “But for right now, I’m at a really awesome point in my career. Not to overuse the world awesome like most people do, but I’m using because it truly is. Sometimes it’s breathtaking. I’m in awe of a lot of things that are happening to me.”
Jake’s next album, Days of Gold, will hit stores on December 3 with a tour to launch in 2014.
