Both of my kiddos start school again on Monday at Williams Elementary in Magnolia… Cody is headed to 1st grade and my baby girl Christiana is going to THIRD!! 3rd grade is a BIG deal to me, that’s when me and my folks moved into our “forever” house… We always lived in Magnolia but thats when we bought our home! I also became a big brother that year… So I know the pressure at 8 years old…

I’m writing a note for her and I’m gonna drop it in her back pack!

What do y’all think?

I woke up this morning thinking “Where did the time go?”

I remember the day you were born. Well, actually, I’ll be honest, it’s a blur. When your mom was induced after going through 24 hours of labor, she was exhausted. And then when I saw you, I was excited… and scared…and overwhelmed. I felt a feelin’ of “everything is different now, I have a purpose”. I felt blessed and terrified.

I realize now, that’s what being a dad feels like. You go back and forth between feeling blessed and terrified.

And on your first day of 3rd grade, that describes how I feel, baby girl you’re getting SO BIG.

First, I want to thank you. You have taught me so much. I’m pretty sure that the good lord has used you and your brother to shape and form me into a better man. I am humbled and honored to be your daddy.

I know you’re gonna be scared… I remember being so scared going into 3rd grade…
There are days that will be fun and exciting and days that will really stink. And that’s okay. Me and your mommy will ALWAYS be here for you and I’m gonna walk you in those doors as long as you’ll let me…

Just have fun. There is no rush to grow up. Laugh, meet new kids, listen and learn. Life is what you bring to it… so bring that big ol’ TEXAS smile that you got from your beautiful mamma!

I Love you- Daddy
