Kenny Chesney is in the midst of his No Shoes Nation Tour, which is his tenth tour to sell over a million tickets.
He has officially decided not to tour in 2014 and instead wants to focus on recoding his next album. Kenny told The Hollywood Reporter, “I love touring more than anyone in the world. I love the band, the crew, the whole team — and it’s weird to not be looking at next year’s stage design, but I shouldn’t make albums to service the tour. So I’m going to put the music first, dial it back and do the strangest thing in the world: not hit the road next summer.”
Kenny admits that taking a year off from what he calls “summer camp with guitars and a great sound system” will be hard, but he feels it is necessary. Although he won’t be staging his own tour, there is still the possibility that Kenny will be showing up on some stages next year.
After George Strait wrapped up the first leg of The Cowboy Rides Away Tour, which will be the final tour of his career, he hinted that Kenny may join him for some dates in 2014.
