When it was announced that Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj would not be returning to the judge’s table for the next season of American Idol, some people assumed producers might just wipe the slate clean and start over after the show received some of its worst ratings in its history due in large part to the distracting and constant bickering between Mariah and Nicki.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Keith Urban, who was one of the few bright spots last season and well liked by the audience, is expected to return for season 13 and so is Jennifer Lopez, who was a judge on seasons 10 and 11 of Idol.
At the moment, Jennifer’s salary demands are said to be holding up the negotiations, but in the meantime, sources are also saying that pop star, producer and music mogul will.i.am and former American Idol contestant, Jennifer Hudson are close to finalizing deals to join J-Lo and Keith at the judges table for season 13 of American Idol.
The only snag with will.i.am will be if he decides to return as a coach on the next season of UK’s version of The Voice.
