Toby Keith Celebrates 51 Years This Weekend
Unfortunately for Toby Keith, he was born 4 days too late but nonetheless, we wish Toby a Happy Birthday. He turns 51 this Sunday, July 8th.
In honor of Toby’s birthday we’ve put together 5 of the most American and patriotic of all his videos because that’s what Toby is all about. America.
Watch the 5 videos here.
“Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue (The Angry American)”
In March of 2001, Toby’s father, Hubert Keith (H.K.) Covel, was killed in a car accident. That event and the September 11th attacks prompted Keith to write this song. “Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue (The Angry American)” is about his father’s patriotism and faith in the USA. It only took him 20 minutes to write the song. At first, he refused to record the song and only sang it live at his concerts for military personnel but the reaction was so strong that the Commandant of the Marine Corps James L. Jones told Keith it was his duty as an American citizen to record the song.
“Made in America”
“Made in America” was almost left it off his album “Clancy’s Tavern” because of the number of other patriotic songs he has recorded. The video for the song was filmed in Cedarburg, Wisconsin during an Independence Day parade. What is more American than that?
“American Soldiers” was written for all the times Toby get to meet the troops on these USO tours, and since Courtesy of Red, White, and Blue, the P.O.W.s and the families that have come and brought him back his old CD covers and stuff that they had and shown how much support they had, this is my support for the American fighting men and women. The video for the song was filmed on location at Edwards Air Force Base in Edwards, California and features off-duty soldiers, reservists and their families
The song is an up-tempo song in which the narrator lists off various politically-oriented issues effecting American citizens.
The bulk of the music video is animated in a style inspired by JibJab online cartoons and features Keith and three other men riding motorcycles while passing scenes related to the song’s lyrics. Also making appearances are evangelist Pat Robertson riding on former United States President George W. Bush’s back, current President Barack Obama being hoisted in the air by bankers, and foreign dictators portrayed as pirates. Whoa.
