As a member of the Eagles, guitarist Joe Walsh is part of one of the most influential forces in the cross-pollination of country, rock and pop. He takes that combination a step further with the premiere of his CMT Crossroads episode this Saturday (June 23) at 11pm EST/10pm CST.

While previous episodes of Crossroads have paired a rock artist with a country artist, Walsh’s installment breaks the mold. He’s joined by two of country’s biggest stars – Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney – as well as Sara Evans, Luke Bryan and Hunter Hayes. Going even further into uncharted territory, he’s also joined by fellow rocker Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.

Walsh tells CBS Local that he had a great time shooting the show. Watch below.

“To me, country music with a little rock and roll sprinkled on top of it is very powerful,” says Walsh, “and that’s what I was trying to do” in the Crossroads show.

“It’s gonna be different from the other Crossroads,” he says, “but I think it’ll be valid. And I know it’s good.”

“He was an awesome guy,” Luke Bryan said of Walsh in an interview on CBS Houston station KILT. “It was a fun situation. I’m certainly very thankful I was asked to be a part of it.”

Walsh’s latest album, Analog Man, is in stores now, and he’s on a solo tour that lasts through September.
