Happy 60th Birthday to the King of Country, George Strait!

In honor of George’s birthday today (May 18th) and his special RodeoHouston show happening next year, take a look back at the work of the country music legend and King of Country.

As if there were ever any qualms over that title, George holds the world record for more number-one hit singles than any other artist in the history of music on any chart or in any genre, having recorded 59 number-one hit singles as of this year.

We’ve put together few live performance videos shot right here in Houston from the King of Country and Texas native.

Filmed at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo during his first appearance on the big stage back in 1983. The song was the second single from his 1982 album, Strait From The Heart. Houston will again welcome George back to RodeoHouston for a special concert-only show on March 17th with Martina McBride and the Randy Rogers Band.

Portions of the video contain footage of his live performance at Reliant Stadium. The song was released on May 28, 2009, and was written by Strait, his son Bubba, and Dean Dillon. The song was the lead single off of his album, Twang.
